About Us
Hello there, and thanks for stopping to visit us.
We are Joe and Jodi Passey, and together, we are Huron Out, a musical duo that travels the Thumb Area playing the songs we grew up with and heartfelt originals.
Joe has been an avid music lover and involved in music since junior high school, where he began playing in high school musicals. He later began specializing in concert promotions and organizing community music events. Pre-pandemic, he was honored to be a member of an upscale, local 11-piece band, “The A-Side Players”.
Joe sings and plays a variety of instruments including guitar, ukulele, and harmonica. He handles the booking and marketing end of the business.
Jodi has loved music her entire life, as well. She played the clarinet in middle school and Joe taught her how to play the ukulele during the pandemic.
Jodi plays ukulele, sings harmony, and is working up the courage to sing lead on a few songs. She recently got an acoustic bass guitar and is beginning to learn this new and funky instrument! Jodi handles the accounting side of things, manages the website, and shares in marketing for Huron Out.
Together we make great music and harmonies playing covers from Bob Seger, The Rolling Stones, Jimmy Buffett, Neil Young, Eric Clapton, The Beatles, The Band, John Prine, U2, John Denver, Whiskey Myers, Pearl Jam, Willie Nelson, Jamey Johnson, and many more. We throw some of our own originals into the mix as well!
We have also expanded our love of music by creating a musical fellowship with others in hosting the successful Open Mic Night at Lewisville Smoke Food & Spirits during the colder fall and winter months.
We love seeing all of the new and amazing talent in the area! Some of that talent even ends up playing during the spring/ summertime at the restaurant, as well as at the many other wonderful organizations, restaurants, and festivals that we help manage entertainment for.
Lewisville Smokin’ Music Festival is just one of these such events and it is FREE to the public, thanks to generous local businesses and sponsors! We have had such awesome feedback from the community about this fun local Festival.
There is LIVE MUSIC from noon-midnight on two stages, a specialty vendor area, excellent award-winning menu items and drinks, and much, much more! Bring a lawn chair and your family and friends!
We are very lucky to work with so many talented musicians and awesome business owners!
See ya out and about in the Thumb!
Get to know us a bit…
The two of us are so lucky to live on Lake Huron, just outside of beautiful Port Hope!
Our duos’ name comes from the magnificent lake which surrounds this wonderful county.
We love all of the nearby towns, as well! This is the perfect place to spend the rest of our days on this spinning ball we call Earth, so from “Huron Out”, we are going to enjoy the people, places, and beauty among us doing what we love – playing music!
Jodi is from Caro and grew up near the Deford/Cass City area. Joe is from Mayville. We both have so many fond childhood memories with family and friends of so much time spent all over Huron County.
Our three lovely adult children are JP, Nathan, and Isabella (all of whom we are very proud of), and one very cute little fur-child named Who.
Joe previously worked in the culinary world, owning his own restaurants, and later helping to open some high-end eateries for celebrity chefs in the city. He started this exciting journey by doing dishes in a little local Mayville restaurant when he was just a kid!
Jodi previously enjoyed her time spent with colleagues and residents at a thumb area Skilled Nursing Facility. After college, she was the Department Head in charge of Human Resources, Business Office, Accounts Receivables, and Collections. She remained there for 14 years and then decided to make a change and became an English as a Second Language teacher.
Joe made the switch awhile back and teaches too, music (of course!) online. Children locally, all throughout America, as well as kids around the world enjoy his fun and educational classes! He teaches guitar, ukulele, harmonica, music history, and songwriting. If you are interested, he can teach you too -he teaches many adults as well.
Well now that you know a little about us, stop in to say hi while you also support live music and local business!
